High Plains Sanitary Landfill & Recycling Center is an environmentally superior site with state of the science design and state of the art operation.

|
Located nine miles north of Great Falls the High Plains Sanitary Landfill and Recycling Center provides solid waste disposal services to a growing number of Montana customers.

|
| The professionals at High Plains manage the facility, monitoring and documenting the waste stream, keeping accurate records, and conducting daily operations. A computerized scale and video monitoring system provide accurate load measurements and the ability to easily monitor and document landfill activities. |

All wastes must be identified and only non-hazardous municipal, commercial and industrial solid wastes and special wastes are accepted. Soil and energy resources are conserved by using a thick tarpaulin as an "alternative daily cover" for the landfill. Special wastes such as contaminated soils and asbestos wastes are monitored, recorded and tracked upon entering the facility. |

The landfill received a No Migration Permit from the state of Montana. Due to the quality and depth of the soil there is virtually no way that the water aquifer can be contaminated. Leachate collection systems are in place. Area soils and aquifers are monitored to make sure problems don't develop. The depth to the aquifer is over 1,100 feet. In-between are thick protective bentonite clays. Storm water runoff is channeled and monitored, and erosion is fully controlled. |

On-site cameras provide a continuous, 24-hour video record of all activities at the landfill, the recycling drop-off facility, the weigh stations and the convenience drop-off facility.

The average non-commercial customer can drive on paved roads all the way, and only larger loads need to travel the final few hundred yards of gravel road to the landfill itself. Customers can deliver aluminum cans and cardboard for recycling without having to enter the landfill facility itself. |
